Overview

Designed for learners who want to build a career in retail, this qualification will give you a foundation of essential knowledge to become successful in the industry.
You will learn whilst on the job and by shadowing your colleagues in combination with working independently. Overall you will develop significant skills and gain significant confidence within a retail environment.


On completion of this qualification the learner will achieve the following:
► City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills 
► City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Retail Knowledge

Course Content

Main subjects covered on the course
Learning how to work productively within a team.
Assisting with customer queries, orders, and returned goods.
Processing payments and credit applications.
Building and organising displays to entice customers.
Checking and auditing stock and inventory.
Organising schedules to drive the team towards achieving objectives.

Method of Study

The two separate qualifications are knowledge and competence-based qualifications delivered mainly at the learners place of work. Each learner is assigned an individual Training Officer who schedules visits on a monthly basis.

Entry Requirements

For a funded Level 2 programme applicants must be:
Employed with a contract for a minimum of 16 hours per week at a rate of pay equal to, or in excess of, the National Minimum Wage. The job role must be suitable for the learner to be able to display occupational competence.
