Personal Licence Holders Commercial Course

Overview

Under the Licensing Act 2003 (England and Wales) anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence, an applicant must hold a regulated licensing qualification.

Nature, purpose and period of validity of a personal licence.
Application process and legal duties when applying for a personal licence.
Legal duties of a personal licence holder.
Roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities.
Law in relation to premises licences.
Nature and strength of alcohol and the effect on the body.

Method of Study

Tutor led.

A handbook supports the qualification and covers all the information needed for the examination. Pre-reading is required. The handbook will be sent prior to the course date.

 

Assessment

60 minute multiple choice examination consisting of 40 questions.

Individuals must achieve a minimum pass mark of 70%.
